News: 100 Clients have now benefited from the SFE Information and connection service.
The SFE is pleased to report that over 100 clients have now benefited from its information and connection service, which was developed earlier this year. While Viv Fawcett, who is the principle deliverer, finds that some of the SFE clients are well informed others derive great benefit. A recent client who arrived in Stafford to escape domestic violence was another person who found the service and the “New to Stafford information pack” and Newsletter Citizens Guide invaluable.
In terms of specific needs met the number of clients receiving specific information has been as follows:
- New to the area 9
- Housing 7
- Gas, Electric and Water 11
- Furniture 30
- Health 5
- Welfare 6
- Finance 12
- Personal safety 6
- Property security 6
- Employment 9
- Education and Training 12
- Transport 7
- Family Relationships 7
- Local Social Activities 9

The SFE Information and connection service is supported by SCC, The Rowley Trust and St Marys Abbey Great Haywood.
Event: Valuing Stafford
The SFE wishes to thank SDVS for mounting this event which was well supported by sister voluntary groups in the Borough, local councillors and other interested parties. The SFE were grateful for all the interest shown in its photo album of recent activity and Nick and Gareth had great pleasure in explaining what the SFE is all about and notably providing information on the new facilities the SFE has which means the SFE can provide a much wider range of services to both sister charitable bodies and statutory organisations.
Don’t be shy – if you think that the facilities managed by the SFE that is its warehouse, office, vans and its invaluable volunteers do give Nick a ring Tel 01785 606674.
Valuing Stafford
News: Fighting the weed
Both Viv Fawcett and popular volunteer John Dixy recently approached the NHS for assistance to give up smoking. The NHS assistance has been invaluable to both of them and they would recommend that anyone else facing the same challenge took advantage of the support available. Unfortunately Viv missed the support of her dedicated support nurse when she fell sick but her determination to see the project through remains. It appears that as far as John is concerned it has been success at the first time of asking. Everyone has their fingers cross and are willing him on.
News: Zara volunteers to help the SFE
The SFE is flushed with pride that after researching the range of voluntary organisations in Stafford that Mrs Zara Faisal chose to knock on the SFE door and enquire if the organisation would accept her as a volunteer. Following discussions with Nick Malyon Zara has kindly agreed to join Susan Clapham in assisting Viv in the office. We do hope that Zara feels very welcome and will enjoy her time at the SFE. She will certainly help us to broaden our understanding of how the needs of newcomers to our community can be better met.
