SFE News and Events December 2009

News – The SFE Activity Rates continue to increase

The SFE is doing its utmost to respond to the current challenging times. It has found itself supplying furniture to 78% more households than it did in 2008.

Income from deliveries has increased by some 45% but unfortunately it has not kept pace with household deliveries simply because the SFE has not received the donations it needs to meet the demand on its services.

If you are having new furniture for Christmas or buying new furniture in the New Year sales please think about rehoming your existing furniture with the Stafford Furniture Exchange.

The SFE takes great care to ensure it helps those in our community who are in greatest need. This policy means that the organisation foregoes potential income which it has to bridge through other mechanisms.

News – The SFE renews contract with Peter Bradshaw

We trust that those who visit our website regularly have noticed a number of changes in terms of extra items and more regular updates. For this much thanks goes to Peter Bradshaw who constructed the site and maintains it under a contact which the SFE has recently renewed. Hopefully, by working positively with Peter, further enhancements will be made during the forthcoming year.

News/Event – SFE activity to feature in FRN Conference beginning 14th January

The outcome of the recent work that Helen Middleton has undertaken for the SFE will form the basis of a workshop at the three day national Furniture Recycling Network (FRN) conference beginning on Thursday 14 January at Cranage Hall Cheshire. The title of the workshop is marketing on a shoe string. The SFE does not have the luxury of a marketing budget so the organisation has to be inventive in getting its messages across. The organisation recognises the value of partnership working and the undoubted role of its referral agents. A list appears elsewhere on the website.

News – SFE Volunteer Chris Hawks does his bit for Children in Need

Long standing and much appreciated volunteer Chris Hawks allowed Abby Flint, from our neighbouring ladies hairdresser Helen Kendall of Foregate Street Stafford, to practice her skills in shaping Chris’s traditional style into something more noticeable. In the process Chris secured some £50 for Children in Need. As a result even the most taciturn within the SFE have not been short of a conversation piece.

News – Kevin Taylor joins the SFE as a volunteer

The SFE is delighted to report that Kevin Taylor has decided to join as a volunteer. Kevin has had much experience in organisational and project development and we will be harnessing that knowledge and skill as the SFE develops new activity in the New Year. We certainly expect it to be a particularly busy and interesting time!
