News – Matt secures his first job
All at the SFE are delighted that Matt Jackson has secured his first job with Argos as a drivers mate. Matt has been a most constructive and helpful volunteer who we watched grow in confidence while with us. Unfortunately from the organisations perspective we will see less of him in future but he remains on call when work permits. Best wishes Matt.
Events – Friday 13th November
The SFE extends its thanks to all those who called by for a chat with the staff and volunteers on duty in the Market Square on Friday 13th November. Fortunately the day was largely dry although a little cold. Hopefully, as a result of the venture, more people in Stafford Borough and its surrounds are aware of what we do.
During the day 5 people indicated that they would like to support the SFE’s work by joining our team of volunteers and we have already received some CV’s to support their applications. Approximately 10 people advised us they had furniture which they would like to donate and some 20 people enquired about how they could they secure furniture they were in need of. This pattern of two enquires about securing furniture to one offering donations is now the norm. As a result the SFE is in urgent need of donations of clean used functional furniture and kitchen appliances of all types.
The response to the event clearly illustrates that we are unable to rely on new technology to reach all those we need to be in touch with. However, we are greatly encouraged that both those who are need of furniture and those who have it to donate are increasingly using our website and making contact with us as a result.
News – SFE launches SFEnews – its electronic newsletter
In order to help ensure that our Referral Agencies and other interested parties are kept abreast with developments at the SFE, the organisation has just introduced an electronic newsletter. It will be produced intermittently as the need arises. A copy of the November 2009 issue is posted on the website and if you would like to receive copies in future via email please get in touch by email of course.
News – SFE Business Review
Helen Middleton has made good progress in developing her report for the SFE Board, staff and volunteers and copies are circulating within the organisation. There is no doubt her work has been invaluable in providing an excellent SWOT analysis of the organisation’s position and setting out short, medium and long term goals. Her discussions with us have indicated a number of enhancements that we could make to the service building on what we already do. We are already in discussions with potential funders as to how they might help us implement some of them. The SFE has much to do and think about over the next two months.
The SFE would like to acknowledge the kind support of the REalliance programme, which has enabled this valued task to be done
