News: Portacabin office identified for new warehouse
Another step forward has been made in equipping the new warehouse for future use. A suitable portacabin office has been identified which should enable those staff and volunteers who will increasingly work at the warehouse keep control of matters and take the occasional welcome break.
As we look to the future the SFE hopes that the resources that it is accumulating and the services it provides might be of value to other charitable organisations in Stafford Borough. If your organisation is in need of storage and distribution facilities in the form of a van and a team of people give Nick Malyon a ring on 01785 606674.

News: Retail Gift Aid
As the SFE Trustees continue to focus on making the SFE financially self supporting many thanks are due to Brian Lloyd, staff and volunteers for developing and implementing a new system that allows Gift Aid to the claimed on all eligible retail sales. David Brown the Chairman of the SFE thinks that the value to the SFE could amount to some £5,000 per year or some 7% of the running cost of the SFE.
Although the extra income will no doubt be of great value what has encouraged David most has been the way that the idea of developing the SFE’s systems to address each of the necessary steps was taken on board by staff and volunteers. They have engaged positively with the system development led by Brian Lloyd and the training he has provided.
News: Volunteer movements
It might seem strange to say that Trustees, staff and volunteers were delighted to say farewell to volunteer Stephanie Atkinson who did so much to bring cheer and good humour to the office. The organisations delight once again springs from a volunteer achieving their objective of securing gainful employment. Stephanie is now working full time as a care assistant and will now doubt bring her much welcomed cheerfulness to many in need. We wish you well Stephanie and thanks for all you did for the SFE.
As Stephanie leaves us we welcome Patrick Meagher who comes as a volunteer driver and general all round helping hand. Patrick has settled in remarkably quickly bringing his own brand of good humour and a side kick in the form of his friend and now crew mate William Paterson. We do hope they will enjoy their time with us.
Patrick – our most huggable volunteer!
